Storing 'Calculate' results and 'Userlocks' in the Shapefile
Stanley Map Tool's 'Calculate' options - Woodstock operability, shadow price map, spatial zones, etc. - allow you to spatially reference data from your strategic model and further analyze and/or modify the spatial harvest schedule. The results are stored in the Shapefile, and if there are insufficient fields in the file or the existing fields aren't of the required type, then you will have to use the 'Modify shapefile structure' option to add fields to the shapefile to store results. The table below summarizes the characteristics of fields required to store the results for each of the Calculate options. Fields storing the results of options for which you specify the result code - i.e. Woodstock operability and Switchable blocks - should be of a type that matches the code; however, the best practice is to always use a character field. Calculate option Code Field type Width/decimals Woodstock operability User-defined Character 10 Woodstock yields Stanley Numeric 10/2 Shadow price map Stanley Numeric 10/2 Rank blocks Stanley Numeric 10/2 Adjacency violations Stanley Character 10 Switchable blocks User-defined Character 10 Spatial zones Stanley Character 10 If you plan to enter Userlocks, you will have to add a field to the Shapefile called 'userlock' that is 'Character' type and 10 spaces wide (or at least wide enough to store the longest userlock string). The new Stanley 4.5 update document that is included with the program update discusses Userlocks and the other new features in more detail.
