Analysis Area Control in Woodstock
In forest management planning, it is sometimes useful to group together stands or polygons into larger geographical units, often referred to as Analysis Areas.
This land classification strategy can be appropriate for a number of reasons - scheduling treatments on adjoining forest tracts, to name just one.
But because there is a spatial aspect inherent to Analysis Areas, it has traditionally been difficult to deal with in aspatial forest modeling.
That is not the case with Woodstock - which has an Analysis Area Control feature enabling users to have some control over when and where Woodstock schedules activities.
The accompanying white paper describes the Analysis Area Control feature on the Remsoft Spatial Planning System, and when it could be useful to you.
This piece was written by Sandy Loder, who is an MSc. candidate in Forestry and Environmental Management at the University of New Brunswick. Sandy is currently a part-time employee with Remsoft, assisting in software testing and training as well as feature documentation.
If you have any question about Analysis Area Control, please e-mail either Sandy or Andrew Cogswell, Remsoft's Senior Analyst.
