Exporting harvest unit shapefiles from Remsoft
Report blocked activities
Applies to: Spatial Woodstock
Date: 07/15/2008
The Remsoft system includes an option to generate reports on the activities assigned to polygons in shapefiles (either in treatment lists or Stanley blocks). You can target reports to several different formats including a shapefile. The purpose of this tech tip is described how to export a shapefile containing a harvest schedule using the blocked activity report.
You access the blocked activity reporting tool from the Maps view. Right-click in the map and select “Reports and summaries > Report blocked activities”. This displays the “Report Blocked Activities” dialog.
Configure the report dialog as follows:
General tab, Options: Process all blocks
Results tab, Type of Report: Shapefile
Then specify a file name (and a location to store the file) in the Filename text box. To create the shapefile click the Build button.
The attributes included in the export are Remsoft_ID, Cut_period, Block, Action, Preblock, Area and an Operable field indicating whether or not the polygon was operable at the time that it was scheduled (you can configure the system to allow inoperable polys in harvest blocks).
You can also add other polygon attributes and Woodstock outputs to the shapefile as well (available on the General tab of the Report Blocked Activities dialog).
The blocked activity report offers a convenient way to export a shapefile containing a harvest schedule from the system. You can then add this shapefile as a theme in ArcMap, for example.
