Course Description

Participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of core optimization principles, including the identification of critical components and data inputs required for effective model formulation. The workshop will cover the logical structuring of optimization problems, evaluation of solution alternatives, and interpretation of results. Additionally, participants will explore the architecture of Woodstock, including its key modules and data requirements, and gain practical experience in executing models, validating outputs, and comparing optimized scenarios.

Prerequisite

Basic understanding of forestry concepts (harvesting systems, reforestation methods, etc.) and forest-level planning objectives.

Duration

This is an online classroom, instructor-led training delivered over one 3-hour session. It is expected that all instructional time and exercises can be completed during this session.

Required Software

Attendees will use a Remsoft provided training environment (i.e. VMs), therefore will not need any required software.
