UPM, a global pulp and paper industry leader, is in construction with its second pulp mill in Uruguay – the biggest private investment in the country’s history. UPM has systematically increased its forest plantations in Uruguay.
The group has an operational pulp mill in the country, the Fray Bentos pulp mill, which started up in 2007. The second pulp mill in Uruguay, being completed in 2022, will grow UPM’s current pulp production capacity by more than 50% and the scale of its pulp business.
